weigh it in mate i had enough of these Fix Or Repair Daily mind boggling pieces of scrap. Got an escort wont start no spark tried everything replaced everything it still wont go i give up what happened to the good old ignition systems.Good luck mate if you got the patience

try looking at the long wiring harness plugs in the top of the fuse box under the drivers side dash...u will have to drop the fusebox down by removing the screws in the front....this is a known fault on these models...poss faulty fusebox.....enjoy the labour
