Renault Megane Automatic Transmission error code download?

Hi there everyone in regards to trans banging and light coming on 2 things to check the main two plugs from the control module the main trans plugs to disconnect take a screwdriver and wriggle the white slide plug lockout towards the wiring loom and make sure there is no corrosion on any of the plug pins inside same applies to the other gear selector plug if there is use electro clean and push and pull the plug in and out a few times then try it out if the problem is still the same then it will be the pressure regulator solenoid if you replace this the trans has to be reset with a scan tool so the trans can relearn i hope this helps

I've had my Renault Scenic 2007 since April 2017 (Private sale) and 3 weeks into my ownership, I've being experiencing the same 'Check Gearbox' sudden jolts! over revving! Stopping taking out the key, before it resits itself.

I'm planning a journey up the motorway, but I dare not use the car, which seems pointless. I had a Renault Espace 10 years ago, which I loved, but said I wouldn't buy another French car again! So BAD on me!

driving renault megane 1.6 dynamique. only engaging in a reverse gear. Frustrates me to pieces! First there was "check gearbox" and a service light on. We then put transmission fluid. whether enough or less I dont' know. It is a nightmare with this vehicle. Am worried if this is a reliable car really. We trying all sorts of solution but doesn't work.

OK lots of people with lots of the same problems with AL4 /dpo gear is , for a start these units need FULLY SYNTHETIC FLUID ,they are subject to overheating if you use dex 2 or 3 ,there is a sensor in the box that will flag up the computer if the fluid gets to hot= bump lockout /limp mode.

Pressure regulation so!inoids are defective ,old ones have a white plastic molding on the top new Borg warner have black but you have to have the software updated if you replace these .

In my modus hand it states that to long in traffic /to long on the motorway /or pulling to much weight will flag computer to limp /lockout, they go on to suggest the thermostat be changed for one with a lower heat value, all of this points to fluid overheating ..

Some of these units don't have a drain plug they only have a level plug , mine does not have the drain plug so I took out the sensor in the bottom of the box and drains out 2 ltrs put the sensor back and then put the container under the level plug started the engine and poured 5 ltrs of FULLY SYNTHETIC FLUID the top of the box and then let it level out with engine running then put plug in,

Took it up the road and punched it up to 65 mph had to slow (traffic) drove from stop like normal and it was as smooth as silk with no hangs between changes ,how long it will last is anyone's guess but a good tip is to put some magnets around the pan on the outside edge !

I also have the same problem as sarah someone has suggested it us a computer fault as it rectifies itself when the engine is restarted, but mine is doing it more regularly now I need help too

i have a 2008 renault megane automatic, atleast twice a day, it makes a loud bang, the check gearbox message appears and the car goes into limp mode, once i turn the car off and on again the car runs fine?
Any suggestions??????????

I have exactly the same problem with my Renault Megan, reading all the comments above sounds like most Renault cars have a manufacturing fault!
If you all read your handbook you will find that it states that any problems with the gearbox in general could be related to a manufacturing fault and should contact a Renault dealer straight away. I don't think I will be buying another Renault car ever again. This car has cost me an arm and a leg since I bought it.

I have the same problem occurs in icy days, let the engine warms up for 10 minutes and has not been returned to the problem. Maybe it's some some oil level in the gearbox or the type of oil.

Hi, I have renault clio 2005 auto transmission the indicator on dashboard not showing and always it stays in 3rd gear once I put onto D. Can you help on this problem. Different mechanics says different problem....I am confused.

I have 2006 renault convertible, it make this sound and shows "check gearbox", switched off the car and the message was off and car drives well, but this happens twice a day in the morning on my way to work (5 minutes into driveing) and in the evening on my way home.

This has been happening for the past 5days now, what do I do?

I have had the same problem with "check gearbox" on my 07 Renault Scenic 1.6 VVT. I took it to my Renault dealer and they diagnosed faulty EVM valves. I phoned Renault UK and complained that the valves should lasted longer than the 21000 miles that my car had covered, and although it was technically out of warranty, Renault have agreed to pay 60% of the total cost of repair. My advice would be to contact Renault Uk, they obviously know there are problems with these auto gearboxes, (although of course they will never admit to it).

the error code is df049 pressure regulation.you need to replace the two solonoid valves reprograme the g/box computer i am a dpo box builder and hope this can be of help to you

Just looked at the previous answers. Paul-G is referring to the old transmission. Ido is guessing the most common fault and is probably correct, but codes should be read and verified against live data, DPO box. DR has probably got an AD4 box with a speed sensor ring detached from the output gear. Verify by removing sensor and flick ring with small screwdriver. to check if loose.

We have the same problem with a 2008 Megane CC 2l auto. The "Check Gearbox" message has come on four times in the last month. Normally the gear change is clunky and rough, it's almost as though it's in sports mode all the time as the engine seems to always rev high. When the "Check Gearbox" message is displayed, the car runs much smoother and the gear changes are better. Any idea if the problem is more likely to be electrical, rather than mechanical?

Look in the engine bay on the right hand side. There are a number of pipes. Below the pipes you should see a tube coming up with a stopper in the top. This is he fill point.

There is no dip stick! You must go to a dealer and pay them to connect diagnostic equipment to work out if the level is low.

Hint - If the dashboard warning light comes on and the car goes into Limp Home mode then add 0.5 to 1 Litre of fluid.

hi i have a megane2003, auto, it had a clunk in the gearbox then came up with the error message (check gearbox) after i restarted the car it was fine. it had no error messages and has been ok since, what do u recommend?

I am sorry if my English is not good
oil pressure regulation : the pressure in the gearbox not matching the reference pressure
you need to replace the Evm(electrical valve modulation) pressure regulation with it seals
on the hydraulic unit in the gearbox there are two electrical valves
one - for regulation
two- for locking the torque
To solve the problem replace them both
after your work you need to upgrade your gearbox computer !!!!!
this is the must important finish

I have exactly the same problem and my gear box went on the motorway and just managed to get it to the hard sholder...

will now only move in 1st gear so looking into getting a new gearbox..

advice - the car will work but with higher revs using more petrol.. But if it eventually goes you may not be as lucky as me... would get it fixed ASAP..
