I have had this problem repeatedly with both a Ka and a Fiesta, they seem to blow fuses when opening the ashtray, even though I know you shouldn't I repaced the fuse with double the rating and it hasn't happened since.

check your fuses if there is not one marked for your cigarette lighter it may be put with another ,just pull one out at a time and check for burn spot on top of fuse or broken contact.make sure to remove and replace fuses one at a time.

check the wiring behind the lighter do not buy the whole lot, or of you do go to a junk yard first it allot cheaper

usually the cig lighter and radio are connected to the same fuse sounds like your element or wiring to lighter is bad I would replace the whole lighter
