Mend MTD 660 Lawn Mower Solenoid Starter

My MTD 660 "clicks" with key but starter does not always engage?

My MTD 660 "clicks" with key but starter does not engage-had been doing this sporadically, and sometimes started s-l-o-w-l-y but now, just "clicks." Battery is new-indicates "full charge" and I previously replaced solenoid which "cured" problem for a while. Is starter going (has gone) bad?

Your problem suggests a bad battery but you say it has a good charge so I would inspect the battery cable connections for corrosion. This will cause the probs you are having. If all is good then most likely the starter is bad, a brand new one will set you back about 60 dollars. Rebuild kits are available but can be hard to get.
