how to fix makita 14.4v MXT Gearbox?

Not entirely true! Makita has a problem with their MXT gearboxes, and they know about it. I have had mine repaired twice within 12 months. The rounded pins within the gear box are substandard and wear. I now use a Ryobi 18v which cost half the price and have never had a problem with it in 2 years. They don't make Makitas as they used to.

the 3rd gear is shot and this is due to not stopping the drill b4 changing the gear. there is nothing you can do but change the gear box
