Mend IKEA Transformer Halogen Light

how do i get rid of the humming noise from a ikea transformer?

I have just installed an ikea halogen track light with a transformer which I connected to the existing cieling rose. after I switched it on it makes a humming noise (quite loud) and the sound dulls as I dim the light from the dimmer switch. There seems to be no burning or resistance anywhere but I cant believe it is normal?

You probably should not be wiring it through a dimmer switch. Lighting sets like that need to be marked as suitable for a dimmer switch. If it is not so marked - don't do it.
