How do I check, when I need to change the rear breaks on my honda 125?

there's a cast in indicator on the back plate,but a good indicator is the angle between the operating rod and the lever on the back plate,if the angle made up by the rod and lever is less than 80 degrees then shoes ok.an angle of 80 ot more when brake is pressed means new shoes.
