Mend Hotpoint TDL 52 Turn Setting Switch

Hotpoint TDL 52 drum does not turn?

When setting the timer switch, the switch 'hums' and the drum fails to turn.
If the drum is pushed when the timer has been set it will continue to run, but will not restart when it stops.
Any suggetions as to the problem.
