Do we need a filter for Zanussi Condenser Dryer TCE 7124W?

I have recently cleaned out the fluff from the door, what looks like a filter collected fluff from the items we put in for drying.

I can't make out wheather it was a filter and fluff collected over a period of time so I empty the whole lot.

Now the washing is not drying as it should be.

Can you help?

THERE IS A FILTER IN THE DOOR WHICH YOU PULL OUT, BUT YOU WOULD DEFINITELY KNOW IF IT WAS THERE AND NOT JUST FLUFF YOU THREW OUT! DON'T THINK THIS WOULD AFFECT THE DRYING OF CLOTHING THOUGH EVEN IF YOU DID THROUGH OUT BY MISTAKE.
