how can i fix flymo that's smoking and motor running very slow?
Cutting the grass today my flymo's motor and blade started turning over very slow, eventually stopping and smoke then coming out of filter on top. Any idea what the problem could be?
not worth praying ...(i tried after 45 minutes cleaning and hoping) .. all i can find is ...... buy another !! ..wtf! .. im still looking for the oil!!!

Do what I did the last two times and buy a new one. Mine seem to last five years in a suburban garden. Is that reasonable? Is my solution too simplistic?

I don't know the model you have but I have the same problem on my flymo compact 350. After about 8 seconds the brake coil drops out and the motor slows down and overheats. I have replaced the brake diode on the motor but this did not remedy the fault.I am still trying to find the fault. I think it must be an intermittant brake in the brake coil when it warms up but this is very difficult to prove

I think the motor has seized, possiblly thro overheating thro ingress of grass, dust etc. I've taken it apart but can't access the one bearing. You can get a new one for £28 inc carriage from espares.
