How to adjust a uPVC door as its loose when closed?

Hi,

I adjusted my door height but I can't figure out how to tighten the door, it can rattle when closed and does allow a bit of a draft in.

Can you explain to me in simple terms how to do this?

Thanks

how do you adjust flag hinges on back doors when the bottom is catching?

Hi Tom,

That mostly worked, I still have to adjust the screws on the side of the hinges which I believe will tighten up the door on that side.

Its strange but I never moved the keep before so I wonder how I managed to loosen it up. I did adjust the height.

Anyways your help is much appreciated.

there are many different locking mechanisms (hooks which come out of the door and lock into the frame, some with a round cam sliding lug and also a combination of both).
first thing to do is alter the keep for the initial latch (this is the part which retracts when the handle is pulled down). on the door frame there will be two small phillips screws above and below the keep. loosen but do not take out these screws, now the keep can be moved left or right along the slotted groove. adjust and re-tighten the screws once in optimal position.
note that a fully air tight seal will only be made once all of the locking mechanism has been engaged i.e when the handle has been pulled up. this is were the hooks and cams come in to play. it is mainly the cams that pull the door onto the rubber gasket in the door frame. in the middle of the cams you will see an allen key recess; turning this will move the cam in a circular motion i.e nearer and further away from the rubber of the door leaf. hence when engaged into the keep in the frame the two rubbers (gaskets) will pull tighter together if correctly alighned. also you can alter the keeps for the hooks in the same manner.
now also the hinges can come into play, especially if they are flag hinges which can make the door leaf move up and down, l or r or in and out.
just alter each part one at a time and try the door (but do take you time and do not get flustered).
iv`e tried to be as simple as i can
