Merc Vito 108cdi in limp mode?

My van has just gone into limp mode but is not showing any warning lights on the dashvoard.

Do you know of any things I should check before taking it into a garage and spending yet more money on this damn van?

Thanks in advance.

Could be anything. A faulty sensor or broken wire or bad connection. My 120 went into limp mode and the RAC man told me it needed a regeneration of the FAP filter. He connected his PC to the OBD port and ran thro a routine and in 5 minutes all was ok.

You then need to run the van at 3000 rpm for a long run to clear the FAP.

im having the same problem with my 2001 110cdi. Ive spoke to mechanic and had the codes read. The first prob was brake light switch had this replaced and all was fine for 200 miles. Now the code for over boosting is showing up, so its change all the vacuum pipes including the pipes to headlamp adjusters hope it helps. Jeff

your catalytical converter is your problem as it is blocking, needs to be blown out, remove cat and try out to see difference, mostly reaches only 3k in parked position anyway, good luck with this but should solve your problem,

i have same problem i think, garage fitted new brake line into engine bay when it came out turbo was,nt working it only revs up to 3 grand, garage denied doin it.been told its gone into limp mode but i think they cud pulled a pipe off ragging old brake line out.ask a garage if they think its gone into limp mode and if they check it and it is,nt then you dont have to pay them, its theyre business to know these things so you dont have to pay if theyre wrong. u wud,nt pay a plumber if did,nt fix a burst pipe so no dif with a garage.my ecu light is,nt on either.

it sounds like your ecu for the gear box is faulty you will need to take it to a garage to get the fault codes read there is nothing you can check yourself apart from the atf if you can get to it have the motor in park and the engine running all the best
