My Hotpoint condenser dryer keeps tripping electrics?

My Hotpoint Aquarius condenser dryer model CTD00 keeps tripping my electrics when turned on, have changed the fuse and cleaned all the fluff out of the back and filters, but to no avail. I have just had a baby and really need it! Hotpoint customer services want £150, (money I dont have) to fix it! can anyone give me any tips to try, to help me fix it? Thank you

Hey thank you so much for the heads up. I took off the back panel, cleaned out all the fluff from the ducting, heater element and also cleaned the float swith. Dried everything off with a hair dryer and crossed my fingers. It works!

My Hotpoint Aquarius 570 TCM started tripping the electrics. I started by drying the heating element, etc. as on other posts but that didn't fix the problem.
I removed the condenser and found the inlet to the pump unit from the condenser housing was blocked by wet fluff. It's a small inlet and easily blocked.
I was able to remove the pump housing and with the condenser removed could clear the blockage and remove any fluff in the area of the pump.

My HotPoint Aquarius CTD40 kept on cutting the main circuit in the house everytime I pressed "start".

I just cleaned all the filters (inside the drum, located at the front on the bottom and the big one at the bottom left when the door is open) as suggested above.

I also opened the top and cleaned anywhere where there was dust/buildup with hoover, I didn't have a hair dryer available. Whilst I had the lid off I visually checked and wiggled the wires with my finger. Put it all back together and to my surprise it worked!!

I wouldn't be able to fork out £200 for a new one and I didn't think there were any hope for my dryer, I know nothing about them so if, your like me and a rookie it's worth a shot to save yourself some money ;) Just make sure everything is unplugged before you start messing :p

A massive thank you for the guidance on drying out the tumble dryer. Mine caused the electrics to trip out multiple times and I was worried that I'd have to call in an engineer but after drying it out, it is now working perfectly...and no power cuts!

Hotpoint Aquarius condenser dryer model CTD00 was doing exactly the same. Working fine one minute and the next, continually tripping the main RCD fuse. I cleaned out the condenser filter (Bottom left of unit with door open). To clean it, simply take it outside and flush it through using a common garden hose and you will see all the clogged fluff etc pouring out. Once clean, leave it overnight to dry. Meanwhile, position a hairdryer in such a manner that it blows hot air into the condenser housing and leave the dryer to blow for about half an hour (keep an eye on it though as hair dryer gets hot). Put it all back together again and it should work fine. Its a fail safe built into the system which prevents it working if dampness is felt across the electrical circuits.

Your condenser unit on the front bottom left corner may be clogged up and causing water to back up around the fan and heating element behind the rear panel.
Take condenser unit out and give it a good clean removing as much fluff as possible.

If the heating element senses damp on it, then it will trip the electric.
The back panel which is at 45 degree angle on back. I took this off and sure enough there was water in there.
Wipe away all water and use an ever so slightly damp cloth to remove as much dust stuck to the metal as possible.
I used a hair dryer for about ten minutes fanning over the heating element and circular fan. Don't rush this. Take your time to make sure all signs of damp have been removed from heating element before putting the back panel back on. Also then took the condeser out to be cleaned and left the hairdryer in tis place for about 10 minutes.
After carrying out the above my machine worked fine and no longered trip electric.
It is a pain, but to prevent this problem happening I suggest cleaning condenser unit about once a week if you have alot of washing.

You obviously have an electrical fault which is not necessarily a dead short, but the only way to find out where it is would be to do a test with a meter. (Having first disconected the machine from the power supply)The first place I would look is the heater or connecting wires, one of them may be a bit frayed and tripping against the cabinet, the motor is another point to check.
