I have been infected by VBS Generic 278, how do I remove/repair?

I have a Packard Bell Multi Media System running XP. Yesterday I became infected with VBS Generic 278.
This has totally disabled my Norton Internet Security 2004 Professional and deleted the Live Download plus disconnectd all Microsft protection in XP. It also prevents downloads from Symantec and Mcaphee and locks one out of all anti-virus sites. I have eventually managed to download eAcceleration threat scanner which has identified the infection.
I states that File C:\DRIVERS\POSTOOBE.NEC is infected with: VBS.Generic.278.
Please can you inform me how I remove this virus and fix damage?
Thanks in advance

A comment: I too have a packard bell XP system which I have never connected to the internet. It has this VBS Generic 278 - which I found when I ran a trial eAcceleration scan. Everything on there was either preinstalled or are programs which I have run on my old computer with no issues. I use eAcceleration to scan anything off the internet before I have transfered it via disc. So how on earth did it get on there? Could it have come with the computer? I can get rid of it when I take my old computer offline and start using this packard bell for the internet - thereby being able to use my eAcceleration in full mode.

I had the exact problem. I was recommended "trendmicro" - http://housecall65.trendmicro.com/
It will scan your pc and should remove the VBS.Generic.278
