mini blind repair?

My dog made a hole on one of the slats right in the middle of the shade. There is a lot of excess mini blind at the bottom of the shade. Can I replace the ruined slat in the middle with one from the bottom?
How do I do it? Step by step instructions would be great !

remove plugs/stoppers at base
untie the cord runnig through height of blind
pull up string untill you reach damage
pull out strip ( spare and damaged) swop over if required
pull back through strings
tie up trap all back inside the base plugs
if you have a digital camera you could take some pics of each stage and you shoud see if you put it back together correctly let me know how you get on
