How to repair a touch sensitive table lamp?

I have a matching pair of touch sensitive table lamps [turn on and off by touching the base}. One has stopped working{the fuse and bulb are OK}.
Any idea how I repair it please?

The suggestions already made are good enough.

But note when you open your lamp the defective part will have 'made in China' stamped on it. It's the same with almost everything that goes wrong these days.

Government and authorities might take note of one of the perils of the globalisation that they were so keen on.

There is a really specific and detailed answer to touch lamp repair at another website: letsfixit.co.uk. Just click on the 'touch lamp' link on the Home Page to go to the information. However, you do need to have the tools and experience to remove a part from the printed circuit board and to solder another part in. Or maybe you know someone who can do this for you. (I imagine any TV repair man would do it for you for no great cost.)

You can get something called a "touch control switch at Lowe's or a similar store. You have to take the felt off of the bottom of your lamp and follow the color coded wires and the instructions on the package will help you to install it. That should do the trick.

In the base of the lamp is the controller that makes your lamp turn on and off with your touch. The one that came with your lamp is a penny part for the manufacturer and can be replaced. Parts can be had at better quality lighting stores. These type of lamps are sensitive to power surges and radio interfearance so I suggest if you repair it to put it on a power surge device.
