You might also check that your hydraulic oil is at a
suitable level and that oil is reaching the pump.
Check that you don't have kinked or damaged hoses
or fittings before buying new parts. You MIGHT save
some money.
What age is the M/C? Is it an early one with Leyland
4/98 engine or Perkins? If Leyland, there are other
possibilities for problem.

The 3CX has a separate pump for the hydraulic steering. Is the pressure ok? Is the oil level OK. If the pump is being turned correctly then it's probably a worn pump or the Danfoss steering thingy that mechanically connects to the steering column - they turn up on ebay for circa £100 now and again.
