How can I bleed the boiler after running out of oil?

depends on the particular burner. a two pipe fuel system will self bleed after a couple of tries. single pipe supply may blead itself if you try it 3 or 4 times if not then the fuel pump needs bleeding. most pumps will have a screw marked with a 'v'. if you undo this the fuel should come after a few moments. if you ran bone dry you may have to blead fuel through supply line filter as well.don't fiddle with pump though, you can do more harm than good.
