my outside overflow pipe is dripping from my bathroom, what can I do to fix the problem

I have an overflow pipe coming out the side of my house. It is about the level of the floor upstairs.

What tank is this likely to be the overflow for?

I have found the over flow for central heating in loft and the toilets.

I have an old house about 100 years old and this is dripping. Whats it for?

Mandy,

Remove the lid on your toilet cistern you will then see the Ballcock, at the opposite end of the ball you will see an adjuster. Loosen the locknut back about 3 full turns, and turn adjuster anti-clockwise about 2 turns, then tighten up the lock nut again. This should stop the water from rising too high.

Good Luck

If you lift the lid off the offending tank or toilet you will see a ballvalve in the tank. The arm may need bending down into the water to stop the level reaching the overflow pipe.Sometimes its best just to change the ballvalve assembly completely as they are only about a fiver and you will then be sure to stop the drip.
