Mend Kenmore Energysaver Handle Dishwasher Shut

How can I fix the handle of dishwasher?

The handle that locks dishwasher closed so it can be turned on will not latch shut. It just hangs there. I am at work and do not have make and model number. It is an Energysaver Dishwasher by Kenmore. I purchased it from Sears less than 3 years ago.
