How can i fix my Kenmore Ultra Fabric Care Series 80 washer?

The water will only fill the tub with a slow trickel that comes in at the sides not the whole way across. The lady I bought it from told me that the filter needs to be replaced but i dont know where to get one or how to replace it. Can anyone help?
