Mend SYM City Hopper Electric Start Motor

sym city hopper electric start?

i have a 2001 sym city hopper and have problems with using the electric start. it sounds like the starter motor is on its way out, so if i replaced this would i stil get the problem of not starting via the electric in the morning. also can someone tell me how long the battery should last as i am charging it once a month.
