If the central locking doesn't work when you press the button on the key, its usually the c/l module at fault. Its situated inside the interior lamp unit and usually fails as water gets in through the aerial fixing. Costs about £45 from Renault but you could try a breaker. This is only a receiving module, the decoder is elsewhere on the car.
