washing machine keep blowing the rcd/fuse?

my washing machine has just started tripping the switch in my fuse/rcd box. This has only just started happening as we have had the machine for about a year. When the machine is ran via an extension lead onto another socket on a different wiring ring it seems to work fine. Can anybody help/advise

my socket plug or switch on my curcuit board is cutting power? it is now double checked through changing and using some power and not using some switched for fridges and alarms e.t.c.

i checked and i found out that its the washing machine. i unplugged it from the wall and found out that its just the washing machine alone because all areworking fine without it plugged in.

so i placed all the sockets/ switches on and then found the route of the problem.

i phoned a qualified electrictian, he said its the earth or the fuse, why i dont think its the fuse, the light on the washing machine still comes on before tripping the switch which takes only a few seconds.

so my main worry is what could be the problem as i have to find out what repairs it may need. nay clues or has anybody had a similair problem before

An RCD measures the current difference between Live & Neutral - it will typically trip at 30mA difference. The assumption being that the missing current may be passing to Earth through a person - it's a safety protection device - it does not protect for overcurrent.

The warning that a fire could start if used on an unprotected circuit is somewhat fanciful however RCDs are usually fitted to protect all the circuits on the power distribution board so you may have a power ring that bypasses the RCD which is not such a good idea.

The risk is electrocution rather than fire. Take care.

likely either element or motor on way out and shorting to some degree...start putting money away to replace same....! And be aware, RCD is there for a reason, using another circuit not protected could cause a fire to start.....
