02 ldv lpg convoy?

my 02 ldv starts on petrol but if the switch under the ashtray is on or illuminated once i stop the engine it will not start unless i turn the switch off then once started i have to turn the switch on again. the lpg meter always says full ? any ideas as it is literally driving me mad. thanks jp
in which position should the switch be for normal use
