Why are the washing tablets not dissolving?

I have had the Indesit WIDL102 washing machine for about a year and just lately the washing tablets are not dissolving in the wash. I place them in a bag in the drum and the temp is set at 40c. My clothes always come out smelling damp. I have not had this problem before.

before starting a program, try dissolving tablets in a old cup/jug with hottish water and then add to drum, close door and run program had some once (bad batch i assume)that you had to break up with a hammer as outer shell was rock hard not allowing water to enter.
