gravity hw pumped heating systems never had control over the hw temp.
so many systems where converted to c plan systems.

>And he may have a "direct" system where the hot water from the boiler goes into the hot water tank directly rather then through a heat exchange coil?

if your talking about a primatic cylinder they are still indirect systems.

another simple way to have control over a gravity hw system is to fit a tap stat.

So, in some older systems there is no tank-stat?

And S-Plan means Full control by 2 two-port valves?

And Y-Plan means Full control by a 3 port valve?

And Tank-Stats can only be used on systems that can run the Central Heating without the Hot Water?

And he may have a "direct" system where the hot water from the boiler goes into the hot water tank directly rather then through a heat exchange coil?

All becoming clearer - I'll keep my counsel in future...

Thanks very much...

>And, "what motorised valves have you got ?" is not an answer to his question either!

is it not ? if the op thinks he can get an answer from his info he's wrong
the glowworm 45 can be plumbed in different ways and that info don't give any idea to what way he has.

without going into detail there are a few faults it can be depending on if its a y plan, s plan system etc.

i would say he has a gravity system and has no control over the hot water as the system is outdated
and not to current standards.

would you like me to carry on ?

And, "what motorised valves have you got ?" is not an answer to his question either!

In all seriousness, how might the type of motorised valve impact the problem of water being too hot?

Anxious to learn

right but that isn't a answer to the question of the stat is turned down but the water is to hot.

My boiler has a control that sets the water temperature that the boiler makes (1-6) and a tank-stat on the hot water storage tank that determines the temperature of the tap water.

My boiler styat is set to 3 and I think the tank-stat just under 60.
