Hoover tumble dryer - noisy operation?

I have a Hoover Performa tumble dryer that since soon after installation has been very noisy when operating.
There seems no easy method to get at the works to check for obvious faults such as belts/bearings etc. The machine works OK other than the noise, which is not getting any worse. Any ideas?
