How can I fix my Kenmore model 70 washer?

I want to move my washer and dryer to the basement. The drain system will run a few feet above the top of where I want to put the washer. How far up will the drain pump pump? Do I need a check valve in the line?

I had read somewhere where the standpipe has to be between 32 and 60 inches high from the floor. Hope this helps.
