Husqvarna 235e chain brake cover removal?

While attempting to remove the chain brake / clutch cover from my 1 hour old Husqvarna 235e I encountered an immediate problem: It seems that the chain brake had been locked prior to my removal attempt, thus preventing full removal of the cover. Hence I can no longer 'fully remove' the cover, nor can I replace it back over the brake's actuating mechanism to release the chain brake.

Any help to resolve this dilemma would be most appreciated!!!

I had the same problem, I can't get it to reset for after many hours and can't get it to budge with your manual tool method.

I set it out to trash - it worked good for that one job , but not worth my time to continue chasing the problem. Nothing sold to the consumer market should be this difficult. No more Husqvarna
for me.

I also had trouble replacing the brake cover. After spending the better part of the afternoon trying every which way to free the brake I tried your advice--took off the hand guard and used it as a wrench to reset the brake. Simple solutions work the best. Thanks

If you have pulled the brake cover off so it now does not engage with the brake handle, you will have too lever it off away from the drum, this sounds bad but it is now the only way to remove it. Once removed you can either make a three legged tool to fit into the quadrant to load the brake, or remove the clutch and drum so as you can put the brake back onto the saw and use the hand guard to load it, with the clutch and drum removed it will fit freely back onto the saw. You could also remove the hand guard from the saw and use this as a loadind tool.

Just pull the chain brake handle backwards firmly until it clicks and the locking strap should release from the clutch.
