Electrolux Aerus won't stay on?

The "bag full" light is illuminated but the bag is new. Hitting the start button activates the motor but it immediately shuts down. When i open the access door, remove the bag and press the switch at the bottom to close the circuit, the cleaner runs fine. With the door open, inserting a new bag and activating the switch, the motor will not run. What's causing this?
