How can I get my Tefal Pro Express to generate steam?

I cannot get any steam from my Tefal Pro Express (steam generator) iron when pressing the button - seems as if something is blocking the steam from coming out. I've had the iron for 7 years. Clean it regularly as recommended by manufacturers.
