1998 triumph 900cc tt ?

I am having trouble starting my bike, have been told to drain each carb via the float bowl, there is supposed to be a drain screw and pipe at the bottom of each bowl but i am not sure where to look for them, because i have also been told if the engine has not been run for a while the petrol becomes waxy and needs to be cleaned hence the question. Any petrolhead out there got the answer, thanks.

Hi Tony,
good luck with it. Dont forget to make sure your fuel cap hole is clear!

Hi BB, thanks for your interest and remedy, since I asked for help I did manage to get the TT going and has been running, I have got the bike in a shed and each morning it refuses to have any of it, there seems to be condensation on it so im wondering if it would be better outside where its normally kept, and not had any trouble, but with the weather being so crap I put it inside, I have got a manual and have got basic knowledge of it, also when it refuses to start petrol escapes from the fuel tank at the tap which I think that is caused by back pressure when it doesnt fire up, I was going to do the service you have sugested when the weather gets better.
But many thanks.
regards.

Hi,
if its been standing for a while you will more than likely need to clean the carbs out. You may be lucky and get away with it but often its easier to clean them and have done with it. They should come off as a set. It is a fiddly job but not that hard. Could expalin on here but so get a manual and it will show you how, esp if you have not much knowledge of bikes.
I would also change Oil and Filter and plugs and air filter at same time if I were you. Depending on how long its been standing drain petrol and put fresh stuff in.
Hope this is helpful
