anti-pollution fault on my peugeot 406 estate?

Hi,

I had a new exhaust, Kat, coil pack fitted at Kwik Fit (probably my first mistake!!).
I now have an anti-pollution fault on the dash board, touch wood at the moment the car is not loosing power and is driving fine. Somebody said could be the landing sensor needs changing - this can throw an anti pollution error up apparently? Somebody else said try changing air filter to one with foam? any ideas greatly appreciated

Had that over a year ago... did an oil and filter change, and within a week, the fault had corrected itself. It's come up again though, and "anti pollution" fault has been illuminated now for over a month, though it runs fine. Intend to flush engine, and do another oil / filter change (long over due...) to see if it does the trick again. Not really bothered though, as from what I read last year, it's a common problem, and often just dirt on some kind of sensor.

Was it doing it before Kwik-Fit worked on it? If not take it back to them and get them to put right what they've done wrong.
A faulty lambda sensor could cause the symptom, yes. But equally the lambda sensor could simply be doing its job correctly and telling you that there is a fault, such as unburned fuel going through the exhaust.
I wonder why the coil pack was changed? Were the spark plugs changed at the same time?
I'm a great fan of using original equipment (o.e.m.) replacements. If a car manufacturer has spent thousands on designing an engine to run properly why not use the air filter that they designed the car to use?
Another cause of anti-pollution errors can be poor fuel. Water in the fuel can cause it and this often happens when folk continually run about with the petrol tank less than half full. You get more condensation that way. Another cause can be poor quality fuel. You're not using supermarket petrol by any chance, are you? If so try some decent stuff instead. e.g. Texaco, BP, Shell. Better fuels have additives to make your engine run cleaner.
