why wont my honda petrol mower start?

my honda petrol mower starts , runs a few seconds then cuts out , i have cleaned the jets there is no blockage in the fuel pipes and the exhaust has been cleaned out , however i did leave it out in the rain for a couple of weeks at the end of last season , could water have got in somewhere?
