Whirlpool AWM 1400 leaking water from draw?

I have a Whirlpool AWM 1400 which is leaking water from the soap draw, since cleaning with a sponge behind it. Seems to drain into drum ok once cycle has started but fills from above the draw and does not drain into the drum straight away - any ideas?
