How do i by-pass engine immobiliser on 1998 Cleo ???

Hi , my daughters cleo wont start, engine immobiliser not allowing engine to fire up. I took infra red receiver out and cleaned heads and inside plastic cover , put it back and it worked for a couple of times but now fails again . Can you suggest anything please ?
