My boiler tripped out yesterday. I suspect the condensate pipe going into the purposely made soakaway pit has frozen. Same thing happened last year. Is there any other way this piping could be led into main drains (which appear much deeper than a soakaway) or any other solution to this problem?
I bought a length of trace heating and a thermostat from a company for less than £100.00 - and fitted it myself !
The tracer comes from little as £10 -

Trace wire onto pipe is the answer or ye run internally or same thing every year. I just had one fitted to mine sick of the same thing when it gets a bit cold.

Yeah I agree.
The gas board now fit trace-heating wire (& a control thermostat which switches it on at 4 Deg C) if there is a problem with condensdate pipes freezing.
Unfortunately they charge nearly £200, so if it can be re-routed to run to a waste/drain internally so much the better.

It can be run into any proper drain, make sure the outside condense pipe is a minimum 1 1/4" (32mm).
Best result all round (if possible) is to keep the condense internal.
