03 berlingo van cuts out when quarter full of deisel ,?

my 03 citroen berlingo van starts to cut out when the fuel gauge reaches the quarter mark and would stop totally if i do not fill with fuel. this all started about 8 weeks ago after a fuel filter change . any ideas ?
