buzzing noise from lamp area ?

i have a sony kdfe50a12u rear projection tv ,when you switch it on it makes a buzzing noise for aprox 5 secs stops then does it again a few times then stops. the buzzing seems to be coming from the lamp area. not sure wether to buy a new lamp if its not that......
