HI I HAD SAME PROBLEM IT THE BACKLIGHT IN THE LID THATS FAILED MINE COST ABOUT £40 TO FIX
IF YOU ANGLE SCREEN ENOUGH YOU CAN MAKE OUT THE IMAGE ON THE SCREEN.
I THINK THE ACTUAL PART IS AN INVERTER
