Mend Epson CX11N

Why wont my Epson CX11N scan?

My Epson CX11N will preview a scan, but will not make the actual scan. It starts the process (a whirling noise), but immediately stops it.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software. All other functions on the printer are working.

Any help much appreciated
