Window fix?

I have beautiful wooden windows which refuse to stay open without support. Due to the fact that the windows are in such great shape I hate to replace unless necessary. It would be messy and distructive to remove windows from openings in order to replace window alum. glides. Any alternative ideas would be appreciated.
