Firstly there was a strong burning smell when it came to the spin cycle and eventually nothing would happen when it reached this point - no noise & no movement. So I replaced the brake solenoid because the old one was fused and now when the machine comes to the spin dry cycles the solenoid releases the drum and there is a very loud buzzing sound and the mortor moves a little and once spun for a few moments but the motor normally doesn't spin. Is this a problem with the motor? There is no indication of smell that anything is wrong with the motor. The motor works perfectly in the wash cycle.
The loud buzzing is the new solenoid you fitted. Have you fitted it properly? Is the motor trying to go but can't because something is holding it back? Motor should be ok. They are fairly good motors and don't fail often. Hardly likely that a motor and a brake solenoid would both fail together at same time. Hold the brake lever out by hand and turn the pulley to see if the drum turns freely.
