Which relay was it ?

Hoping this email reaches you, can you remember which of the 6 relays was the problem?

Hi
The relay does not appear to be the problem (tested with multimeter on PCB) as the heating element is switched on, but once the wash cycle started, I opened the door only to find the water had not covered the heating element. I conclude that the water is not being heated because not enough water is being allowed in to start with. What would cause this?

The relay that switches the heating element will probably be the largest.

It will have two circuit tracks leading to it wider than all others - these will run away to the connectors for the heating element.

You test the relay (the easiest way) by changing it - relays are cheap. You will need soldering skills.

You could rig up test leads to the relay but it would be impractical to do so - and a negative result would not prove the relay to be at fault.

Alternatively you might consider calling in a service engineer.

Good Luck...

The original posting was
'My Baumatic bdw13 is coming up with error E3?'
I've added some clarification above your post.
Like Steve, I to have confirmed continuity for the Thermostat and the Heating element and am now assuming the relay is the problem. How would I confirm relay failure?

Sorry. This was suppose to be on an existing category. I've since added it correctly but have had no answer yet. To be honest, I don't think I'll get a reply from Steve who solved the problem. The relay linked to the heating element had been identified by Steve H, back in 2011. After confirming continuity on the thermostat and the heating element for a BDW13 dishwasher, the relay was found to be sticking. It was replaced and the dishwasher worked again. The PCB has 6, possibly 7 relays. Which one linked back to the heating element?

1) What you sent was not an email. It was simply a posting on a forum

2) How on earth do you expect us to know anything about your original post if you dont even hint as to where it is?
