Threading wire?

I'm building a lamp table and want to use a swing arm to the lamp socket. The swing arm has 2 five inch pieces and are hinged to extend to 10 inches.. the wire must go through four different 90 degree turns to extend thru the arm. I just know that must be difficult to do. How do the pros do it?

The power cord will need to accommodate the bending and the extending - to achieve this sufficient free cord will need to be left at the hinge points.

Build the contraption and work out the cord arrangement with string. When it looks OK then fit the electric cable.

With your swing arm lamp - you are the world expert.
