My Kenmore 70 series washer will not drain or spin?

A Home Depot appliance sales person told me that it was the filter (internal) that was probably clogged. Can unplug, remove and plug in a new one. About $20 part.

The real hurdle is getting into the machine for repair. See the answer to that question by someone else.

I also suspicioned that it could be the timer/selector. Sales person said try the filter first.

I have not tried this yet - getting in for the repair seems a major obsticle.
