How do you change circuit board in kenwood chef A901?

Capacitor in circuit board blew, obtained and fitted new circuit board, speed control for some reason is just one speed?, Have i wired it correctly? what gap do i need to set circuit board from rotor, to allow variable speed?

The Circuit board distance from rotor shaft is varied by slotting the pin which juts out of the CB into the groove in the round plastic part which is attached to the on /off controle Ie. the controle numberd knob, As the knob is hand turned to a higher number the distance grows.
