Hey Brian.....I see it has been awhile since you've answered so I'm hoping you will answer this one as well......If you are still making the main gears I will take 2 of them now. If so how can I get in touch with you?

After I pre-drilled two holes. I drove in two drywall screws in slight angles and “V” shaped them with the grinder to fake the missing tooth. It took me 10 minutes since I had all tools handy. Poorly designed junk works fine now. Just don’t feed in too many papers at once.

Hey brian,
are you still willing/able to make the replacement gears for this unit?

I had the same issue, the "Main Gear" which is the largest gear with a "1" molded on the flat side, it has 37 teeth on the large gear and a smaller gear which has 14 teeth and a 6 point hex molded into it to attach to the cutting blades. I called Fellowes and was told that this gear is no longer available, so I made one, and it works great.

If anyone else is in need of this gear for a Fellowes DM65C I will make them one for $15 usd plus shipping, if you have the same gear that is an issue email me at brianscx@comcast.net and I will provide further information.

If you have a different gear that is broken I may be able to make you one but you would have to send me the broken gear so I can mold a new one. The cost for this would be more then the gear itself because of the expense in building a mold before molding the new part, probably around $35 plus shipping

Gary,

Look at your emails. I have a DM65C with wearing on the first gear off of the drive shaft, the small drive belt, and the next gear inside the gearbox. The remaining gears appear fine and are yours if you want them.

Get back to me as I am spring cleaning and this is taking up space. By the way, it still works but probably won't hold up to hard use because I 'Mickey-Moused' it back together after discovering the problem.

I had the same problem as the outmost nylon gear (the largest) had a stripped tooth. I inserted a small nail where the stripped tooth once was, but I recommend that you use a screw.

Fellowes will provide you with another shredder for the price of what they claim the DM65C gear assembly would cost (if they actually sold it -- which they don't). The cost of having Fellowes ship the new shredder to me (model is PS5C, I think) is roughly $24.

Good luck!
