may reverse lights dont work?

Hi,
Paul, when you checked the connector on the gearbox did you disconnect it and short the two wires to simulate a closed connection? If you do this and the rest of the system is ok, the lights will come on when you have the ignition on. If you did this and you still got no lights, you need to check the wiring for continuity (possible breaks).
